ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD
This apartment is close to many great restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, etc. Everything that you might need or enjoy is within walking distance from the apartment. I couldn't fit everything into this page, so I just put a few pictures and places that a relatively close to 12th street. I'm sorry if it takes a long time to load, but I thought you might want to see the pictures below. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about 12th street.

Fall Season on 12th street. It's great to see all the trees change colors.

The 12th Street Association sponsors a block party, usually 2 a year. It's a great
time to meet the neighbors, eat hot dogs and win the raffle drawings. The 12th St. Association
plants flowers along the trees and publishes a quarterly newsletter.

This garage is just half a block away (on 12th st. btw 6ave & 7ave). So if you
have a car, you can always find a space here. If you don't have a car- you're in luck!
Zipcar has some really nice cars that are easy to rent.
Prospect Park is at the end of the block. It's so huge and there is so much to
see and do. If you want to learn more about the park click here.

Like to BBQ? It's pretty easy to do when you live on 12th st. The entrance to
the park is on 11th street and the BBQ is one of the first things you'll run into.

You can learn to ride a horse or just get back on the saddle and have fun
riding a horse in Prospect Park. Practice takes place near the 15th street
entrance. To find out more, click here.

Hopefully you will never need to go to a hospital, but if you do New York Methodist
is located just a few blocks away (6th st and 7th ave). The best part is that it's just
far enough away so that you can't hear any of the sirens associated with it's ER.

The Pavilion Theater is a beautiful old theater that has been renovated with
stadium seating, digital surround sound and DLP. Not really sure what DLP means exactly
but it's looks and sounds great. The theater is just 3 short blocks away on 15th st.

You can also see movies and concerts for free (or you can give a small donation) in the bandshell.
Last year we watched the
New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the stars, saw Tarzan
the Ape man with a Jazz band doing the soundtrack live! And we got to see Kasey Chambers.
Although the bandshell is really close you can't hear any concert noise on our street. Believe me,
I've tried. Being a little lazy, I've opened the windows in the apartment hoping to hear some of the great
music but couldn't. So I was forced to take a blanket and sit on the great hill to catch a free show.

This video store is around the corner on 8th ave. btw 11st and 12st.
This isn't your average block busters. They specialize in independent features.
They also have the blockbuster stuff too, it's just you generally feel like watching
the kind of movies that make you think.
The 7th avenue F stop (actually the entrance on 8th ave.) is next to Dizzy's.
This place has great food, I especially like the
vegetarian huevos ranchers.
it's also nice that you can get pancakes anytime of the day.
12th street is just 3 short blocks from both the 7th ave F stop and the 15th st.
F stop. I really feel like the 15th st. stop at the park is one the nicest looking entrances.

I finally went to the Prospect Park Zoo. It's definitely something you should do
if you move to 12th street. It's a short walk across the park.
Walking back from the Prospect Park Zoo. Small lake near the ball fields.
